Ellis University Teach Out Announcement

On May 23, 2011, Ellis University received approval from the Higher Learning Commission’s (HLC) Board of Trustees to remain regionally accredited through August 31, 2011. Courses completed during the summer terms and degrees conferred during the August conferral period will continue to hold both regional (HLC), and national, Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), accreditation status. This extension is primarily designed to assist those students who are able to complete their degrees by August 2011.

As discussed in previous communications, Ellis will remain a nationally accredited institution, accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council. Students may continue to take classes after the summer semester and would graduate with a nationally-accredited degree.

The University has entered into teach-out agreements with the following institutions:

Each of these institutions has agreed to assist Ellis students on a case-by-case basis to complete their programs of study. These institutions may make special accommodations such as waiving residency requirements or accepting course substitutions to ensure that students are able to meet their program completion and graduation requirements. Tuition costs and course formats vary by institution.

The following chart represents which institutions' programs align with your current Ellis University program. Click on any institution's name to learn more about the process for transferring to that institution if part of the Ellis University teach-out. Students should have their Ellis student ID number available when contacting the teach-out institutions. Your Ellis student ID number can be found on the virtual campus by going to the Account menu, and then My Statement link.

Change of New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) Teach-out of Ellis University Students

To Ellis University students seeking to transfer to NYIT:

NYIT is not currently accepting transfer applications from Ellis University students seeking online degrees because it does not have the capability of offering the required degrees in a completely online format at the present time.  We expect to receive approval from our accrediting agency which may change the situation beginning Fall 2011.

In the meantime, for those Ellis University students who live in the New York metropolitan area, we welcome inquiries about transfer to our on-ground programs.
